Before any blade or bit goes into a slab, you want to know what is underneath. Concrete is full of rebar and conduit, and on a lot of decks there are post-tension cables under serious tension. Cut one of those and you can damage the structure, knock out power, or hurt someone.
That is why we run ground penetrating radar on every job that calls for it. GPR maps the inside of the slab and we mark the rebar, conduit, and cables right on the surface so the operator knows exactly where it is safe to cut or core. It takes a little time up front and it is the cheapest insurance on the job. If you are planning a cut or a core, scan first. Every time.
